UDON GOLF RESULTS (Victory Pk) ( Wednesday 15th May)

Very hot conditions for our round today with temperature around the 42 degree mark.

The course although slightly better than the previous week still was way below expectations. The putting green was improved but the approaches still will take a month or more to re grow. Bunkers atrocious for those unfortunate to land there as they were not raked by hand, but a machine had been used that created deep grooves.

Anyway it is what it is, but the low scores suggested more than poor play.

John Ward with 32 points won the day narrowly from Gary Parks in second place just pipping Cliff Saveall who also had 31 points.

Closest to the pin on the back nine par 3's went to Cliff and Gary.

Only 7 of our members turned up but with the hot conditions not so surprising.

Scores. John Ward 32,Gary Parks &Cliff Saveall 31,Terry Aston 30,Harry Farquhar 25,Graham Firth 24 and Peter Hellery 22.

Next weeks round will be Monday 20th at Sri Thani, Tee off 8 15am

UDON GOLF RESULTS (Ubolrat) ( Friday 10th May)

Seven of us i.e. John Ward, Peter Hellery, Graham Firth, Harry Farquhar, Cliff Saveall, Denni Price and yours truly following a light breakfast teed off in very warm conditions. The course was in magnificent condition and a credit to the management and staff to keep it in 5 star shape.

Denni, Peter and I teed off first and enjoyed ourselves even though Peter and I were a tad off(being kind).Denni was in good form though and soldiered through even though his knees were letting him know a buggy may have been wiser.

Cliff ,Graham, Harry and John followed in a four ball and with hardly anyone on the course we experienced no holdups at all.

New format today was introduced with winners declared 1-6,7-12 and 13-18 resulting in Graham(on a count-back) Harry and Cliff coming up trumps.

Closest to the Pin on the par 3 holes back nine went to Denni and Terry.

Harry back, fresh from his fabulous USA TRIP(more later on that) won the day overall with 36 points, followed by Denni on 35 and Cliff who recovered from a surprisingly low, for him 7, on the front nine putting together 24 points back nine for 31 in third spot.

Overall we had 5 of our 7 succeeding in one area of the other with this format.

The heat was oppressive and before some have a stroke best we all wear appropriate hats as 40 degree heat and strong sun when playing golf can be very unkind.

Next Friday we will be on again at Ubolrat as this to me is the highlight of our golf week.
